Helen was a volunteer caseworker at the Public Interest law Centre and worked with us from September 2017.

Helen predominantly worked on Freedom of Information requests to public authorities.

Responses from these requests often provided valuable information, which shaped many of the cases PILC worked on. Helen also dealt with Subject Access Requests and had been securing police files for the undercover policing inquiry.

Helen assisted the lawyers in various aspects of public law. This included researching specific points of law or working on Judicial Review cases. Helen specifically assisted on a Judicial Review challenging the Home Office’s policy to deport rough sleeping EEA migrants and another challenging the sell off of a town hall.

Helen is interested in human rights and the importance of using the law as an effective tool for social change. She is currently completing her Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Holborn and aspires to gain pupillage in 2019.

Since leaving the Public Interest Law Centre Helen is now in America working as a volunteer assisting in migration and human rights cases.
